THE JURYING PROCESS
The method by which ALL exhibitions are juried at Art Saint Louis is always a fair and blind/anonymous process. What this means is that at no time before or during the jurying process do our Jurors know the names of entering artists. Exhibit Jurors are presented all entrants' JPEGs in an anonymous digital image presentation and the only information provided to them pertains to the artwork and includes the following: artwork title, year, media, dimensions, and method of presentation (displayed on the wall, sits on a pedestal). To repeat: Jurors are never shown the names of any artists entrants during the jurying process. All artworks that you submit for jurying are presented one after the other in the presentation that the jurors view. So, if you are artist #25, your artworks/entries are in the presentation after artist #24 and before artist #26. From the jurying presentation and information provided about the artworks, the jurors make their selections for the final exhibit. Artwork selection decisions are in part based on a set of specific jurying instructions & criteria relating to the theme of the exhibit as well as specific conditions & rules of the Gallery. This is a FAIR jurying process. Jurors often do not even see names for selected artists until they arrive to the Gallery to view the final exhibit on the Gallery walls, months after an exhibit has been juried.

SALES & INSURANCE
All artworks must either have a sale price or be marked Not for Sale (NFS).
No works marked POR (price on request) will be accepted.

Call for Work: Deadline 6 March 2017

CALL FOR ARTWORK FEATURING NUMBERS AND REPETITION

Numbers are used to quantify, rank, prioritize, calculate, and measure. Depending on their
context, numbers can be holy, encouraging, devastating, superficial, or so commonplace they are barely noticed. Many works that feature repetition or are part of a series inherently reference numbers. Open to all media, The Nth Degree is a juried exhibition that encourages artists to submit work that uses numbers or mathematics. These influences can be conveyed boldly, subtly, contextually, literally, or simply as inspiration.

James Chase, juror for the exhibition, is an artist and instructor whose work explores ideas of collection, repetition, and memory.

All entries are due by Monday, March 6, 2017. The Nth Degree will open on Friday, April 28, 2017 with an opening reception from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A gallery talk will be given prior to the reception at 5:30 pm. Three awards will be given at the opening reception, two $200 juror’s choice awards and a $500 or Going Solo exhibition juror’s choice award. This exhibition closes on Friday, June 9, 2017. Calls for entry are available online at foundryartcentre.org or at the Foundry Art Centre, located at 520 North Main Center in St. Charles, Missouri.

Call for Work: Deadline 10-12 March 2017

Geometric by Design

Call For Art inspired by geometric shapes

Framations Art Gallery is pleased to invite artists from the St. Louis region to enter an upcoming exhibition. Always moved to try new exhibit themes to inspire artists, Framations is working through a series influenced by the traditional elements of art. Having recently hosted exhibits with the emphasis on line, value, and texture, two exhibits this year will explore the diversity of shapes.

When studying the elements of art, you learn of line, shape, form, color, texture and space. Shapes tend to be either geometric or organic in nature. Geometric shapes refer to those that are more orderly and rely on fundamental designs such as circles,  squares, rectangles, triangles, lines, etc. In a new exhibit titled Geometric by Design, Framations asks artists to explore these shapes through their work. Will you focus on architecture or go symmetrical? Abstract or realistic? There will also be a companion exhibit Organic by Nature later this year.

Geometric by Design will be on display to the public March 17 - April 20, 2017.  Artists who are interested in participating are invited to deliver up to four entries to Framations the weekend of March 10 - 12. Framations is open 10-6 Friday and Saturday, and 12-5 on Sunday. There will be an Opening Reception for the exhibit on March 17 from 6-8pm.

The Juror for this exhibit will be Melissa Whitwam. As a member of many local Art organizations, including Missouri Fiber Artists, Surface Design Association, Women's Caucus for the Arts - St. Louis, and a supporting member of Craft Alliance and Laumeier Sculpture Park. Melissa's proudest accomplishment is being able to combine her love of the arts with her career. Serving as the Foundry Art Centre's Executive Director, she is able to serve the community through the arts and in turn, create a space in the community that can be a resource for artists and for those more interested in the current art community. Artists can find the full entry details, including size restrictions, at www.framations.com.

Framations is located at 218 North Main Street in St. Charles, MO. For more information visit the website at www.framations.com or call the gallery at 636-724-8313. Framations offers juried exhibit opportunities for artists, as well as solo exhibits.
