Call for Work: Deadline 15 September 2011

The British Journal of Photography is calling for entries for its International Photography Awards, now in its seventh year. Photographers are invited to submit their images in two categories – single image and series.

Both winners will see their work printed and framed by Spectrum Photographic, one of Europe’s leading photographic printers, and exhibited for a week at east London’s Host Gallery. The series winner will also receive a Nikon D700 with a 50mm prime lens, while the single image winner will collect a Sigma DP1x compact camera.

Photographers can enter up to 25 images in the series category. The deadline is 15 September.

Previous winners include Edmund Clark, Giulio di Sturco, Walter Astrada and Charlie Crane among many others. Last year, the series award went to Peter DiCampo for Life Without Lights, which records nighttime life in Ghana. UK‑based Michelle Sank picked up the single image award.

Shameless Grounds Sex Positive Exhibit
July 12 - August 23

What do you think of when you hear the phrase "sex positive"?

From our About page: Does your love life fall "outside the box"? Maybe you're a guy who
likes guys, or a girl who likes girls. Or maybe you like both. Maybe a firm hand and a riding crop are the things that reliably take you to your happy place. Maybe you aren't chained to one spot on the gender or orientation spectra. Maybe you don't consider monogamy to be the only
realistic option.

How would you convey this idea of love through art to the vanilla public?

This exhibition will be merging somewhat with the Cherry Jubilee and our official grand opening party. While the Cherry Jubilee will be exhibiting work from alternative sexually oriented artists and not at all erotic, we want to focus on the loving, erotic side of sex positivity.

Please see our website for more information about us and what we strive to project.
