The exhibit is entitled “Elsah: People and Places” and will be held in the Museum building, known as the Village Hall, at 26 LaSalle Street, Elsah, Illinois. Photographers, amateur and professional, are invited to make submissions to the exhibit and participate in the purchase prize portion of the exhibit. As in previous years, the photographers may sell their displayed photographs to the public retaining all proceeds.

This is the 8th annual exhibit and the sixth year for which there will be a first place purchase prize. The first place prize will be purchased by the Museum for $150 for the matted print as well as permission to use the photograph in publicity for the 2007 and 2008 Exhibit. There will be certificates to recognize additional works.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2007 from 1 to 4. Refreshments will be served.

Call for Work: Deadline 31 July 2007

shots is proud to announce the second annual competition for photography students worldwide. The theme of this year's competition is "Chapter 3." We are looking for a short series (3-10 images) presenting a developing - but unresolved narrative.

This is a unique opportunity for photography students. Each year, shots publishes a substantial international Directory - a major resource for international brands and the creative industries that serve them. It is bought, and used all year by creative directors and art buyers worldwide.

Sixty finalists will be chosen from the competition entry; and from those finalists, five overall winners will be announced in November 2007. All finalists will be given space in the Directory to present their work along with contact details. The winning entry will feature on the cover. Runners-up will be given additional full-page exposure throughout the book. All finalists' work will feature in an online exhibition when the Directory is published in December 2007.

The competition is open to all current photography students and graduates from 2005 on. The closing date for entries is 31 July 2007. The competition will be judged by a professional team from the advertising and photography community.

Entry is free for all current and recent photography students.

All images are to be submitted digitally at low resolution to the email address below. Images may be colour or b/w. Shortlisted entrants will then be asked to submit high-res versions, on which final judging will be based. The judges will be looking for technical excellence as well as an imaginative and original interpretation of the chosen theme. Only previously unpublished work will be considered.
