Sverdrup Grand Opening Exhibition

Hey Photo Students!

The public grand opening of our renovated space is this Tuesday, the 16th, from 4-6 pm.

Any Webster student who spends at least 30 minutes photographing the events can enter that work into a special Small Wall Juried Exhibition.

The exhibition should get a line on your resume, and the selected photos will also play in a slideshow on our cool big screens in the new lobbies (a publication line on your resume)!

In addition, all selected photos will receive a prize, 50 sheets of 8½x11 Canon luster paper.

To enter:
  • Be there photographing the crowd and the events for at least 30 minutes on Tuesday. (Remember, the longer you are photographing, the more likely you'll see that prize winning image.)
  • Email your submissions to mgallery@webster.edu by Friday, 19 October. Please send JPEGs, longest side 1000 pixels.
  • Entry is free, and you retain copyright.
  • No need to print. If you are selected, we will supply 13x19" paper with which to make a print. (So be sure you are capturing at high resolution, raw files highly recommended.)
  • Have fun! It's a party!

Memories and experiences of childhood become imprinted on the consciousness in a permanent way. Seeing toys we played with, pictures we drew, and characters that were real or imaginary give us a sense of nostalgia. “Child’s Play” is an international, all-media exhibition celebrating the child within. The concept of this show is to revisit childlike ideas, behaviors, symbols, and imagery to bring some whimsy and childlike innocence into our adult lives.

Examining our Heritage and History from individual and collective perspectives.

Our past shapes us. Builds our future and changes our perspective. An upcoming exhibit at Framations Art Gallery invites artists to look at their past and their surroundings to see its impact on their lives. Heritage and History asks artists to examine these concepts from individual and collective perspectives.

Open to all media, this exhibit is open to artists from the St. Louis region and will be displayed in a gallery setting in Historic St. Charles, MO. Artists who are interested in participating are invited to deliver up to four entries to Framations the weekend of November 30 - December 2. Framations is open 10-6 Friday and Saturday, and 12-5 on Sunday. There will be an Opening Reception for the exhibit on December 7 from 6-9pm.
