$50 Dollar Show

The Soulard Art Market and Contemporary Art Gallery is calling for submissions to $50 Dollar Show, a juried exhibition of artists that is open in subject matter.

All works will be priced at a maximum of $50.00. We will advertise this show in a fashion which will attract holiday shoppers. Artists will not be limited in the amount of their works, we are encouraging artists who have several items in this price range, show curators will decide as fairly as possible how much space each artist will have for display. For example, a jewelry artist with a small display table may equal in space that a photographer would have with 6 wall hanging pieces.

We are inviting artists to spend time in the gallery each Friday night and Saturdays while the show runs with the idea that between their advertising combined with ours we will create an atmosphere which will attract a holiday shopping crowd who appreciates art at its highest level, which is meant to be shared and enjoyed by all. In addition to our gallery, sidewalk area as well as garden area will be available for weekends only.

The Exhibition runs from November 13th - December 25th, 2008. Artists will not be expected

Call for Work: Deadline 19 October 2008

Art Coop is looking for 33 artists to exhibit their work at "Halloweird, the costume art show." this is our October art show, opening October 24 from 7 to 11 p.m. This will be Art Coop's first show in our newly renovated 3,000 square foot space.

Artists are invited to submit three works each in any medium or mixed media. This is not a theme show. But this is the best show of the year to exhibit work that is edgy, experimental, or relating in any way to anything you may see as part of the ancient or modern Halloween tradition.

It's also a great opportunity for participating artists to wear a costume at the opening reception. Yes, an art show AND a costume party! Although costumes are optional for the artists, as they are for everyone attending the opening reception.

For works submitted to be hung on the wall, each artist is limited to 6’ feet of horizontal wall space for the three works.

For large sculpture, free-standing installations or performance art, floor to 12’ ceiling space will be available as required by the work.

Art will be exhibited at 2800 North 14th, in the heart of the Old North St. Louis redevelopment area. This is just across the street from Crown Candy Company in a newly-renovated 3,000 square foot space. Art exhibited will be on display from October 24 to November 19.

Art Coop charges no gallery commission on sales of your work, but there is a $25 entry fee per artist (not per work). Exhibition is limited to the first 33 artists accepted.

Deadline for received submissions is October 19. But don’t delay submitting. Submissions will be reviewed as received and accepted or rejected only until we have 33 artists accepted. 12 artist slots are already filled.

To submit your work for review, send an email to artcoop@live.com with photos of your work attached. Or provide a website address where we can see your work. In your submission please include your phone number(s) and the approximate size of each submitted work.
