Call for Work: Deadline 1-3 December 2017

Call For Entries for Art and Awareness exhibit inspired by memories

Framations Art Gallery is pleased to partner with local organizations to offer a new Art and Awareness exhibitions and opportunity for artists. As a way to connect with the community, Framations offers a series of art exhibits called Art and Awareness exhibits, that offer an educational component in addition to the theme of the artwork. While the artists are provided with a theme for their entries, the gallery works with organizations in the area to bring awareness about an issue that affects the community. For this exhibit, the theme will be Memory: Joy and Loss.

In their Art & Awareness Series, the gallery strives to periodically host exhibits that incorporate awareness in areas that affect our community. Here, they focus on the significance of memory and its impact on our lives. In examining ways to bring awareness, they chose to focus on services that are available in our community for those who have a loss of memory. In addition to that, they plan to share information about programs available for seniors who are still active and making memories. In doing so, Framations will work with both the Alzheimer's Association and Maturity and Its Muse to share information with visitors and those who visit their website.

Artists who are considering entering are asked to think about Memory and how it plays a dual role. On one hand, memories can be a source of joy when they are things we hope to always remember. But on the other hand, memories can serve as a reminder of things we’ve lost or regret. Even worse at times are the things we wish we could remember, but can’t. Here, artists are asked to focus on memory and it’s function in our lives.

Open to all 2D and 3D media, with some size restrictions. Artists who are interested in participating are invited to deliver up to four entries to Framations the weekend of December 1 -3. Framations is open 10-6 Friday and Saturday, and 12-5 on Sunday. There will be an Opening Reception for the exhibit on December 8 from 6-8pm. There will be a reduced entry fee for artists choosing to participate in their annual food drive. The full entry details can be found at www.framations.com and at the gallery, located at 218 North Main Street in St. Charles. Memory: Joy and Loss will be on display December 8, 2017 - January 18, 2018.

The Juror for this exhibit will be former gallery-owner and entrepreneur Lynn Friedman Hamilton.  Long a champion of older artists, Lynn spent more than a quarter of a century organizing social group activities for older artists and adults, before forming the 501(c) (3) not for profit organization Maturity and Its Muse.

Artists can find the full entry details, including size restrictions, at  www.framations.com.
