As beautiful as a fine inkjet print can be, one thing is missing: the hand of the artist.
For this exhibition we're asking for images made from a traditional silver halide print or any substrate that has been hand-coated with light-sensitive material. This includes platinum/palladium, cyanotype, Vandyke, salt, Kallitype, photogravure, tintype... the list goes on. The "print" can be on paper or any other substrate that brings life to a phDeadline 27 Februotographic image. You take it from there.
As usual, submission is by JPEG, but work selected to hang in the gallery must be an original handmade print.
We are honored that Dan Burkholder will be the juror for Alternative Processes. He will select 35 images for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery and another 40 for our Online Gallery. All 75 images will be reproduced in the exhibition catalog and recognized through social media. Cash awards will be offered:

            Juror's Award: $300
            Director's Award:  $200
Up to three Honorable Mentions will be given.

Hasselblad Competition: Deadline 10 June 2017

Hasselblad’s Prestigious Masters 2018 Competition Now Open for Entries

Photographers across the globe are invited to submit three images that best demonstrate their photographic ability for the chance to be named a Hasselblad Master.

This year’s competition is bigger than ever with 11 categories, including the brand new ‘Aerial’ sector that pays tribute to Hasselblad’s history of aerial photography, with its technology used on several space missions including the first landing on the moon.

The Hasselblad Masters is one of the world’s most prestigious professional photographic competitions and gives acclaimed professionals, as well as aspiring newcomers, the chance to make their mark in the world of high-end photography.

2018 Categories include:
Aerial (New for 2018)
Architecture
Fine Art
Fashion/Beauty
Landscape
Portrait
Product
Project/21 (Under 21)
Street/Urban
Wedding
Wildlife

Hasselblad Masters are judged on their photographic ability, creativity, compositional skills, conceptual strength and technique – and are acknowledged to have made a compelling contribution to the art of photography. Each entrant must submit three images per category, with the jury voting on the images rather than the photographer.

Entrants will first face an Internal Jury of Hasselblad staff, experts in the field of photography and supremely knowledgeable about Hasselblad cameras. The Internal Jury will select ten finalists in each category that showcase a high level of technical skill and creative flair. These finalists will then reach the professional Masters Jury, compiled of 24 of the best names in photography. Together with the public vote, which acts as a 25th jury member, the Hasselblad Masters are chosen.

The competition opens for entries from 24th January – 10th June 2017. Entries are submitted via www.hasselblad.com  Winners will be announced in January 2018.For full details on competition download Masters 2018 Rules & Regulations.
