Call for Work: Deadline 20 January 2019


Exploring photographic work in all disciplines

Framations Art Gallery offers local artists an opportunity to display their photographic work in a gallery setting in Historic St. Charles, MO. This will be the 13th Annual Beyond the Lens exhibit, a juried exhibit of photographic work in all disciplines.

Artists who are interested in participating are invited to deliver up to four entries to Framations the weekend of January 18 - 20, 2019. Framations is open 10-6 Friday and Saturday, and 12-5 on Sunday. There will be an Opening Reception for the exhibit on January 25 from 6-8 pm. Beyond the Lens XIII will be on display January 25 - March 7, 2019.

The Juror for this exhibit will be  Erica Popp, an artist, educator, curator, and project manager. Her artwork is primarily photography, especially alternative photographic processes. Her work has been shown nationally in solo and group exhibitions, and reproduced by Urban Outfitters and Art Crate. Popp has juried and curated exhibitions regionally and nationally. She has taught photography and developmental writing both full and part-time at the college level, and currently teaches part-time at St. Louis Community College at Meramec. Popp is the owner and co-curator of Erica Popp Studios + Gallery in St. Louis' Tower Grove South neighborhood, an organization dedicated to supporting artists who are young in their careers through exhibitions, workshops, mentorship, and professional services. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts from Fontbonne University in St. Louis.

Juror Jennifer Shaw
Jennifer Shaw is the founder and creative director of PhotoNOLA, New Orleans’ annual photography festival. The festival showcases works from local and international artists, and is coordinated by the New Orleans Photo Alliance (NOPA) in partnership with museums and galleries citywide. Shaw was a founding officer of NOPA, non-profit arts organization whose mission is to encourage the understanding and appreciation of photography.

Selected artists’ work is included in a gallery exhibition and an online exhibition with links to the artists' website. The Center promotes the exhibit to an international audience of 180,000+ through social media and media releases.
