Call for Work: Deadline 10-12 March 2017
Geometric by Design
Call For Art inspired by geometric shapes
Framations Art Gallery is pleased to invite artists from the St. Louis region to enter an upcoming exhibition. Always moved to try new exhibit themes to inspire artists, Framations is working through a series influenced by the traditional elements of art. Having recently hosted exhibits with the emphasis on line, value, and texture, two exhibits this year will explore the diversity of shapes.
When studying the elements of art, you learn of line, shape, form, color, texture and space. Shapes tend to be either geometric or organic in nature. Geometric shapes refer to those that are more orderly and rely on fundamental designs such as circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, lines, etc. In a new exhibit titled Geometric by Design, Framations asks artists to explore these shapes through their work. Will you focus on architecture or go symmetrical? Abstract or realistic? There will also be a companion exhibit Organic by Nature later this year.
Geometric by Design will be on display to the public March 17 - April 20, 2017. Artists who are interested in participating are invited to deliver up to four entries to Framations the weekend of March 10 - 12. Framations is open 10-6 Friday and Saturday, and 12-5 on Sunday. There will be an Opening Reception for the exhibit on March 17 from 6-8pm.
The Juror for this exhibit will be Melissa Whitwam. As a member of many local Art organizations, including Missouri Fiber Artists, Surface Design Association, Women's Caucus for the Arts - St. Louis, and a supporting member of Craft Alliance and Laumeier Sculpture Park. Melissa's proudest accomplishment is being able to combine her love of the arts with her career. Serving as the Foundry Art Centre's Executive Director, she is able to serve the community through the arts and in turn, create a space in the community that can be a resource for artists and for those more interested in the current art community. Artists can find the full entry details, including size restrictions, at www.framations.com.
Framations is located at 218 North Main Street in St. Charles, MO. For more information visit the website at www.framations.com or call the gallery at 636-724-8313. Framations offers juried exhibit opportunities for artists, as well as solo exhibits.
