DARTstl: Tuesday, 4 October 2016

St. Louis is coming Tuesday night, Oct 4, 2016 as part of St.Louis Design Week

When: October 4th, from 6-9pm
Where: FK Photo Studio, 2745 Locust Street, 63103
Who: All creative St. Louisans are invited to participate, regardless of photography experience. $5 suggested donation per throw.

How do you see your city?

Throw your dart to pick an intersection.
Become a random tourist in your own city. With a camera.

What influences your perception of this random St. Louis city block? Find a spot of beauty or tragedy; irony or sincerity; and photograph it.

A camera is a powerful tool that gives the photographer a reason to explore topics and places that are unknown. By the mere act of photographing, things that were unknown become captured, understood, and made personal. By experiencing new areas and meeting new St. Louisians, we can see more clearly the hope and promise of our own neighborhoods and our own neighbors.

This is all St. Louis, and it’s ours.

HOW IT WORKS

Step 1: Come to the event on October 4th and throw your dart to find your intersection
assignment.

Step 2: During the month following the event, visit your location and make a photograph within a one block radius of your intersection assignment. All still photography processes and interpretations of the assignment are valid and welcome.

Step 3: Submit your best photograph for inclusion on our Dart Instagram page (@dartstl).
