Through the lens: A pictorial look at 2012 hosted by the Society of Professional Journalists
Three local photojournalists will showcase their best images of 2012 at Through the Lens, this month’s installment of the News at Noonspeaker series presented by the St Louis Society of Professional Journalists.
Speakers include David Carson, an award-winning photographer and videographer at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and William Greenblatt who shoots for United Press International, the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Fire Department. In addition, the Belleville News-Democrat will send one of its top photographers to show their best images. The speakers will tell the stories behind photographs and talk about what makes some pictures so memorable. No discussion of images in the news is ever complete without considering the ever-evolving ethics of photojournalism. The photographers will highlight some of the editorial discussions that took place during the selection of ethically arguable images.
