Call for Work: Deadline 25-26 January 2013

Framations Art Gallery encourages artists to enter a new juried exhibit focusing on nature - and our impact. "Leaving No Trace: An Exhibition on Nature and Our Impact" aims to bring attention to the beauty and grandeur of nature, which can only be enjoyed if man avoids the temptation to ruin it.  Many parks have posted signs that encourage their visitors to leave what they find such as rocks, plants, etc. They also encourage visitors to take all the items they bring, such as trash and to leave the scene unharmed and untarnished.  These things seem obvious to some, but are often ignored. Artwork should explore the aspect of pristine nature, where man has abided by this rule as well as the affects of what we leave behind and how we have impacted nature. Artists are encouraged to use their own interpretation to arrive at their imagery.

This exhibit will be on display February 1 - March 7. Artists can enter up to three pieces, with an entry fee of $8.00 per piece. Entries must be hand delivered to Framations Jan 25 and 26 from 10-6 and Jan  27 from  12 – 5. This exhibit is open to artists 18 years of age or older who live in the St. Louis region are eligible.

Works in all 2D and 3D media can be entered. 3D works must fit on a pedestal of 18” x 18”. Work must have been completed within the last three years (2010 – 2012). All work must be Original work not completed under instruction. Works previously exhibited in any juried exhibition at Framations cannot be entered. Work must be suitably framed, wired and ready to hang. Some pieces, such as gallery wrap canvases, do not require frames.  Framations reserves the right to reject work that is not  properly prepared for hanging or is in any way unstable. Sizes, including frames, are not to exceed 30” x 40”. There will be Awards announced at the Opening Reception on Feb 1 from 6-8pm. The Juror for this exhibit is Laura Helling, Executive Director of the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, MO. Dependant on the juror’s decision, an artist may find that all, some, or possible none of their pieces are chosen to be a part of the exhibition. Framations strives to promote excellent exhibitions that are juried to fit the exhibit space but also display the best quality work chosen from what is entered.
