Call for Work: Deadline 29 April 2011
DRIFT
CALL FOR ENTRIES
Entry forms are now available for our next juried exhibition, "Drift." The deadline for entry is April 29, 2011. This new exhibit is an exciting collaboration between Art Saint Louis and St. Louis Artists' Guild and will be presented as one exhibit at our two locations. The show will run June 25-August 19, 2011.
For this all media juried exhibit, we are seeking artworks that emphasize or reflect movement through space and time. "Drift" addresses our movement between East and West and the relationship to nature and the world in which we inhabit. It also focuses on how people are affected by time, space and movement. Seeking original artworks that highlight these ideas and communicate a profound relationship with these concepts. All media & styles are welcome and all responses to and interpretations of the theme are encouraged.
Questions that can be asked relating to the idea of "Drift" include: How do you relate to your environment? How does travel affect your daily experience? Do you notice the change of the seasons? How does environmental change impact your existence? Does time fly? What is your relationship with time? How is movement, place, time, and the environment depicted in your artwork?
Serving as juror for "Drift" is Dr. Ivy Cooper, Professor of Art History at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and art critic for ArtForum, Art in America, Art Papers, Sculpture Magazine, and St. Louis Beacon.
"Drift" is juried by JPEGs on CD. Limit 2 original artworks created 2009-2011. Works not previously shown in any juried exhibit at Art Saint Louis or St. Louis Artists' Guild or any juried exhibit in the St. Louis area within the past 6 months. 2-d works not to exceed 72"x84" & 30 lbs; 3-d works not to exceed 85"x35"x50" & 100 lbs. No ceiling installed work or works that rely in the Internet for display. No loose plexi clipped or nailed to wall; no works that are nailed, tacked, or affixed/painted/applied directly to walls.
