Philip Slein Gallery: Friday, 19 March 2011
RETURN OF THE OUTLAW (PRINTMAKERS)
Reception: Saturday, March 19th, 2011, 6-8 pm
runs through April 30th Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10am-5pm
Free and open to the public.
The Philip Slein Gallery is pleased to announce The Return of the Outlaw (Printmakers). For six weeks only, the Philip Slein Gallery has re-constituted the ragtag bunch of printmakers known as the Outlaw Printmakers by bringing together some of the original members and some of our personal favorites.
Whether the subject is bad girls (Peregrine Honig), bad boys (Tom Huck), monsters (Bill Fick), aliens and space travelers (John Jacobsmeyer), historical figures trapped in a time-warp or a netherworld (Michael Krueger), weird allegorical scenes inside the goldmine of American history (Don Colley); whether it’s darkness on the edge of town (Frank Stack), or another green world (Tom Reed); whether it’s the inspiration of the Far East (Phyllis Bramson) or the anarchy of punk and grunge (Art Chantry), what this bunch has in common is the underground sensibility.
