VLAA Business Edge seminars

VLAA CONTINUES "BUSINESS EDGE" SEMINAR SERIES FOR ARTISTS

St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts (VLAA)'s Business Edge seminar series for individual artists of all disciplines continues in February and March with these offerings:
  • Artist as Bookkeeper (Feb. 11) Nancy Starnes, CPA, Ernst & Young, will guide you through the tax maze and offer suggestions that could save you money and a lot of aggravation.
  • Financial Fitness for Creative People (Feb. 25) Improve your financial well being by getting and staying organized, understanding credit and more. Suzanne Zemelman, consumer economics specialist with the University of Missouri Extension, is our presenter.
  • Anatomy of a Contract (Mar. 10) Attorneys James W. Reeves and Kim Kirn will cover the basics, including negotiation, the elements of a valid contract, when you should consult a lawyer, and the benefits of mediation as a dispute resolution tool.
The seminars will be held in the Regional Arts Commission's building, 6128 Delmar, which is located across the street from the Pageant and just west of the Delmar MetroLink station. They will begin at 7:00 p.m. and conclude by 9:00 p.m. The advance registration fee is $10. To
