Scholarship for 2018-19: Deadline 4 May 2018

MEDIA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE

Applications for scholarships awarded through the St. Louis Press Club and Journalism Foundation are now available for the 2018-19 academic year.

The scholarship program is open to students who live in the St. Louis metropolitan area, including St. Louis city; the Missouri counties of Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. Charles, St. Louis and Warren; and the Illinois counties of Bond, Clinton, Jersey, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair. 

Applicants must plan to enroll as full-time students for the 2018 fall term with courses in journalism, mass communications, public relations, advertising or writing. They must have completed their freshman year of college by that time. Graduate students carrying at least six hours in the above curricula are also eligible.

Applications can be obtained at www.stlpressclub.org, through area colleges' financial aid offices, departments of journalism, English or communications.  The deadline for submitting applications and supporting materials is May 4.

Scholarship recipients are chosen on the basis of aptitude, interest in 
pursuing a journalism or communications career, academic standing and financial need. This year's scholarships will be presented at a luncheon in the summer of 2018.

The awards are made in cooperation with the St. Louis Press Club, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the St. Louis chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists, Baseball Writers' Association, Missouri Professional Communicators, United Media Guild and Times Newspapers in cooperation with Webster University and Fleishman-Hillard, Inc.


Last year, scholarships totaling more than $21,000 were awarded to 16 college and graduate students in journalism and related courses of study.
