Sheldon Art Galleries fall events

A message from the Sheldon Art Galleries:

This fall promises to be an exciting time for photography at the Sheldon Art Galleries!
We are bringing three fine exhibits and several important lecturers to our galleries to
which we hope you will bring your classes. From the important Bank of America
collection, we are pleased to offer Group f 64 & the Modernist Vision: Photographs by Ansel
Adams, Edward Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Willard Van Dyke, and Brett Weston, a selection
of iconic as well as unknown photographs by these master photographers, and Designing the
City: An American Vision with photographs by Berenice Abbott, Harold Allen, Doug Nickel,
Hedrich Blessing Studio and John Szarkowski.. The curator of photography for the Bank of
America collection will be speaking the day after the opening and we are also very excited to
have David Travis, the just retired curator of photography at the Art Institute of Chicago to speak about the Group F.64. The dates for the free gallery talks are as follows:

Saturday, October 2, 2010, 11 :00 a.m. Whitney Bradshaw, curator of photography, Bank of
America Collection, Gallery of Photography, admission free.

Saturday, November 20, 11 :00 a.m., David Travis, recently retired curator of photography at the Art Institute of Chicago, educator, and author of many books on photography will speak on the f64 group, Gallery of Photography, admission free.

All new Fall exhibits open on Friday, October 1,2010 with an opening from 5 -7 p.m.
(galleries are open until 8:00 p.m.). We hope to see you at the opening and at the gallery
talks! Please encourage your students to come!
