International Call for Work: Deadline 1 August 2007

International Call for Art: Sukkat Shalom: A Shelter of Peace

Hosted and curated by Central Reform Congregation: September 29 - December 1, 2007

Deadline: August 1, 2007. Download the prospectus at or email jeane@vogelpix.com to receive the PDF by email.

Sukkat Shalom are the Hebrew words for "Shelter of Peace." A sukkah is a simple, temporary shelter, open to the sky. The concept of a sukkah is an ancient and powerful symbol. They were built in the wilderness by a people who for generations were slaves and were now free. With little more than the hope of a better life to help carry them on their journey, our people knew, even then, that to truly be free, all people must be free, and to truly find peace, the shelter of peace must extend to everyone.

Artists of all faith traditions are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly.
