Call for Monochromatic Artwork aims to
focus on more than one type of"values"
Not everything is as simple as black and white. There's the gray scale in between. Or in this case, Monochrome of any color. Framations Art Gallery, located on Historic Main Street in St. Charles, returns to a familiar theme in a new exhibit this winter. "Monochrome II" will focus on artwork that is at least primarily monochromatic, featuring values of any color. Though the theme applies to the imagery, it can be any subject matter that the artist chooses. This exhibit is open to work in all 2D and 3D mediums. The exhibit will be on display November 27, 2015 - January 7, 2016. Entries are due to November 20 and 21 from 10-6 and on November 29 from 12-5 pm. Artists can enter up to four pieces with an entry fee of $8 per piece.
Framations periodically host exhibits, termed
their "Art and Awareness Series", that incorporate awareness in
areas that affect our community. In this exhibit, they are focusing on
values, meaning the shades of a color used in artwork. Another meaning of the
word “values” refers to your principles or standards. Some would say
the value of a person’s character can be judged by how you treat those around
you. Thanks to assistance from St. Louis Area Foodbank, Framations
offers their customers an opportunity to help those whose basic needs require
the help and kindness of their community.
Each week, an estimated 57,100
people rely upon the St. Louis Area Foodbank for food assistance. In 2009,
the Foodbank distributed over 22 million pounds of food. The numbers are
incredible. With tough
economic times and the upcoming holidays, simply having adequate meals for yourself and your family means a lot. If you feel so moved, you are encouraged to bring your unopened, non-perishable food items and toiletries to Framations Nov 20 – Jan 7. Donating items for the food drive will earn artists a discount on their entry fee, and will also earn customers a 15% discount off their total purchase.
