EXHIBIT DESCRIPTION
Works submitted for this all media juried exhibit should reflect the push/pull of noise or silence. The two concepts of opposites will be examined in this exhibit, working as a force against and alongside one another. Artworks submitted for this exhibit should either be comprised of clean, simple lines and be silent visually, or the artworks should be multi-layered, messy and thereby visually noisy. Works that are conceptually silent or noisy are also considered. Emphasis on multi-media works, but open to works in all media, styles and techniques. As always, we encourage artists to interpret the theme from their own direction using the focus of their media and emphasizing their own individual styles as it applies to this theme.
JURYING & SUBMITTAL PROCESS
Juried by JPEGs on CD. Limit 2 (TWO) original artworks created 2011-13 in all techniques & media. NO ceiling installed work. NO works that sit directly on floor. Sculpture that otherwise would sit on floor must have platform provided by artist that displays work min. 24" up off of floor. NO works that are nailed, pinned, tacked, taped, velcroed, painted on, adhered, or affixed directly to/on Gallery walls. 2-d works must be framed or pre-approved presentation. If you have an alternate presentation & work is not framed, then email robin@artstlouis.org for pre-approval on final presentation before submitting it for consideration. No loose plexi that is clipped or nailed to wall. Size limits: Final installation size not to exceed 6' (72") wide or 7' (84") high. 3-d, over-sized or installation works must be installed by artist under direction of ASL Gallery Director. 3-d works that are extremely fragile, very small, unstable or do not sit flat on a pedestal are discouraged.
