Course Description: This weekend seminar is an introduction to the creation of portfolios to be presented on a DVD and the internet. The web based portfolio is an essential aspect when applying for a job, graduate school, film festivals and art shows. The class will cover basic tools and concepts of Adobe CS which include digital imaging, capturing video clips, menu and web design, DVD authoring, video encoding and web streaming, and publishing portfolio based web sites. Students will create a visually effective demo of their work and package it as a DVD and web site.

Prerequisites: EPMD 1000

Recommendation: This workshop is beneficial for students in their 3rd or 4th year of study. Students should bring their existing projects (high quality QT video clips or other video file format that can be used for editing, audio files and JPEG stills), and possibly a resume (Word file), Blank DVDs, USB flash drive and external drive to store their projects.

Course Learning Outcomes:
• Students plan the structure of their online portfolio and DVD.
• Students edit and encode video for DVD and web.
• Students design interactive menu and build DVD.
• Students apply the basics of web design and publish their work to the internet.

Software for Course: The version of the software being covered is Adobe CS5: Premiere, Photoshop, Encore, Media Encoder and Dreamweaver. Optional: After Effects
