Artist Lecture: Thomas Demand
Wednesday, September 14

Contemporary artist Thomas Demand is known for his large-scale photographs. Using paper and cardboard to reconstruct scenes he finds in images taken from various media sources, he photographs the resultant models and then destroys them, complicating the relationship between reproduction and original. Demand has been the subject of one-person exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin, among numerous others, and is currently the Getty Scholar at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles.
