How not ot get arrested...
HOW NOT TO GET ARRESTED ON YOUR NEXT LOCATION SHOOT...
Okay... this meeting is not actually going to prevent you from getting arrested, but it will give you the information you need to make sure you know what to do when using a location (permits, insurance, etc), how to cheat an existing location for some place else (did you know you can make St. Louis look like Europe?), and how some simple set dressing can change the appearance of a location entirely.
Whether you are working on films, still shoots, corporate video, or commercials, this is all information you will need.
Our speakers come from different aspects of the production world.
Ron Durham, Location Scout/Manager will give us some tips on what we would need to supply him to help him find the ideal location for our project, and what is needed to legally shoot at different locations. Ron has scouted locations for such productions as THE INFORMANT, UP IN THE AIR, LIGEIA, SAVING GRACE B. JONES, and ALICE UPSIDE DOWN.
Wyatt Weed, Director of the feature film SHADOWLAND and shorts films WAR OF THE PLANETS and TIMELINE, will share with us the process he went through in finding locations for these films and others. He will discuss the challenges of shooting different time periods in St. Louis, of transforming existing locations to make them look like others, and rearranging the geography of the city.
Tuan Lee, local photographer, will share with us his secrets of finding unique locations, and using art direction to give the client a look they want.
