Call for Work: Deadline 23 June 2008

CALL FOR ENTRIES
For the Women in Photojournalism Conference
“Freedom of Expression” Juried Exhibition

Rejoice in the rich history of women photojournalists by taking part in a juried exhibit presenting work from a variety of photographers including newspaper and magazine staffers and independents worldwide. The judges for exhibit are:

Mark Edelson, Presentation Editor, The Palm Beach Post
Janet Reeves, Director of Photography, The Rocky Mountain News
Paula Nelson, Assistant Managing Editor/Photography, The Boston Globe
Carol Nakagawa, Art Director, The Pacific Northwest Magazine/The Seattle Times
Phaedra Singelis, Editorial Manager-Multimendia, MSNBC.com

There are no categories for this contest, only your interpretation of the theme. Photographs, must be shot by women, and can represent your definition of the theme through people, place, action or event milestone. Each photograph is a single entry, no stories. Photos must have been taken between July 1, 2007 and May 1, 2008. The deadline for entry is June 23, 2008.

Up to 50 winning images selected including 1 a best of show, will be presented in a gallery reception during The Women in Photojournalism Conference August 8-10, 2008 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Submit images by going to the EXHIBIT tab on www.womeninphotojournalism.org. You will be able to submit and pay for your entries at the time of upload. Contest prices for each entry are: NPPA Pro ~ $12 Non Member/Pro ~ 17 Student ~ $8

The annual conference is meant to expand our vision of where we all fit in the photography community. It features speakers, multimedia and still critiques, and hands on workshops on “Video Photography 101 for Still Photojournalist”, and Soundslides production and much more!
