Drive Agency
2nd Annual DIY Show- Found Art

Drive Agency is proud to announce our 2nd Annual Do-It-Yourself show. This year’s theme will be focused around “found art”. We will be teaming up with Living Lands & Waters- an organization dedicated to cleaning up the Mississippi River. All of the materials selected for the show will be objects that were once disregarded and dumped in the Mississippi. In order to turn this “junk” into art, we need your help. This is a call for artists to take the junk we collect and turn it into something beautiful. This is a great opportunity to help the environment in a creative way using the found objects as a form of inspiration. We are interested in displaying any and all kinds of art; 2-D, 3-D, Video, Interactive, etc. As with all Drive art shows, those who participate can sell their creations for the price of their choosing. We would like a portion or all of the proceeds to go to the Living Lands & Waters organization. Please contact me if you are interested in participating and if you would like more information.

CALL FOR ARTISTS

imPOSTERs - An Exhibition of Real Posters for Unreal Bands

Showing in Gallery Visio at the University of Missouri – St. Louis

As the title of the show would suggest, we are looking for artists to create a poster in order to promote a completely fictional band. We came up with the following suggestions to get you started: The Cheddar Campers, Jupiter for Sale, Thesaurus Attack, The Frog Nine, and Tanned Mannequins. Be creative; the possibilities are endless (and hilarious).

Art will be exhibited in classic "poster show" fashion by bulldog clips fastened to the walls. No artwork will be framed, mounted, or matted.

Gallery Visio will charge a $15 acceptance fee per artist (not per work), payable on the drop off date. There is no application fee, and there is no commission; artists will retain 100% of sales.

Deadline for received submissions is June 1, 2008. UMSL Professor of Design Jen McKnight will jury work. (Bonus points are given to awesome names.)

Exhibition runs July 17 - August 21, 2008.

The Rules:
- Poster must promote an entirely fictional band
- Design must include band name
- Design must include fictional date and venue
- Design may include optional website, time, address, etc.
- Poster must be on paper
- Paper size 11 x 14 to 19 x 25
- May be printed by hand or digitally

To submit your poster(s) for review, send an email to galvisio@umsl.edu with your JPGs attached with subject line "POSTER SHOW ENTRY" (please limit image size to 500kb or less). There is no limit to how many separate posters may be submitted.
